Working out the concept for Sochi's main beach, the architects sought to improve quality of the beach infrastructure, to make the seafront accessible and permeable from the city and to expand the opportunities for recreation at the seaside. The landscaping of the Mayak Beach includes new walking routes, bicycle trails, sightseeing platforms and functional wooden staircases with integrated recreation spaces. Separation of pedestrian and bicycle traffic at different levels is a distinctive design feature of the project. The bunting system at the distance from the shoreline will be partly replaced by protective breakwaters, opening up panoramic views of the beach and enabling a safe and comfortable stay for holidaymakers.
